Toronto: James Gunn-Penned 'The Belko Experiment' Sells to Orion, BH Tilt

Director Greg McLean's horror thriller debuted Saturday night as part of the Midnight Madness section at TIFF.

Orion and BH Tilt have picked up U.S. rights to Greg McLean's The Belko Experiment at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The deal for the indie written by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who produced with Peter Safran, follows a Saturday night world premiere at the Ryerson Theater in Toronto. A March 17 theatrical release is planned.

The Belko Experiment portrays a twisted social experiment involving 83 Americans locked in a high-rise corporate office in Bogata, Colombia, and facing a deadly game of kill or be killed.

The film stars John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn (best known to audiences as President Fitzgerald Grant III on ABC's Scandal), Adria Arjona, John C. McGinley and Melonie Diaz.

McLean earlier directed the features Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek 2 and Rogue.
