Tory Metzger named MRC president

Moving from CAA to film group after 16 years

Longtime CAA agent Tory Metzger has jumped from the representation business to the greenlight biz.

Metzger has been named president of Media Rights Capital film group and will oversee and expand its existing slate that includes projects involving Robert Rodriguez, Ricky Gervais, Cameron Diaz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Walter Salles and Bennett Miller. She also will sit on the company's greenlight committee and work with the physical production, international sales and marketing and legal affairs teams.

Metzger spent 16 years at CAA, where she worked with such artists as Tom Cruise, Ang Lee, Cameron Crowe, Peter Hedges, Robert Benton, Betty Thomas, Spike Jonze, Callie Khouri, Edgar Wright, Richard LaGravenese, James Schamus, John Wells, Nicole Holofcener and Stacey Sher.

MRC execs said their business plan aims to put the artist first, so someone with Metzger's background was an ideal choice to lead the film group.

"In the same way that I patterned my own career as agent/adviser, MRC has been built on a foundation of partnering with some of the most artistically respected talent in the movie industry," Metzger said.
