BESSER WEDDINGBryan Besser, founding partner of talent and literary agency Verve, married Paige Van Trigt, a first-grade teacher at Turning Point School in Culver City, on Dec. 3. The pair said their vows at Annaberg Ruins, site of a former sugar mill, on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. “We wanted to share this magical place with our friends and family,” said Besser, who hosted 80 guests with his bride during a more than weeklong celebration that included a Thanksgiving feast.


TalentWorks’ August Kammer proposed to fellow agent Marion Campbell in Paso Robles, Calif. The pair, who met while working together at the agency, have been dating for five years and plan to say “I do” sometime in 2011.


British media mogul Simon Fuller and his wife of two years, Natalie, welcomed their first child, Grace, at 3 p.m. Dec. 7 in Los Angeles. She weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces.


Dexter stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter announced Dec. 13 that they have split after being separated for “some time” The pair were wed Dec. 31, 2008.

Writer-director Cameron Crowe and Nancy Wilson finalized their divorce Dec. 8. They were married 24 years but separated June 2008.


Karel Och will take over Jan. 1 as artistic director of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Amit Desai was promoted Dec. 3 to senior vp franchise management at Warner Bros.’ DC Entertainment.

Barry Weiss, chairman of Sony Music’s RCA/Jive label group, announced his move to Universal Music Group on Dec. 7.

David Wells became Netflix’s CFO after Barry McCarthy stepped down Dec. 10.


Nicholas Brooks, son of Oscar-winning “You Light Up My Life” songwriter Joseph Brooks, was charged with attempted murder and strangulation Dec. 10 after his girlfriend, fashion designer Sylvie Cachay, was found dead Dec. 9 at SoHo House in New York.


Aretha Franklin has been diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery the week of Dec. 6. 


The Fugitive series producer Alan A. Armer died Dec. 5 at 88. The Emmy winner also produced Cannon and The Untouchables.

Grammy-nominated jazz saxophonist and flutist James Moody died Dec. 9 of pancreatic cancer in San Diego. The musician was 85.

Lawrence Dolin, owner of Cleveland theaters the Front Row and Playhouse Square, died Dec. 6 of cancer. Dolin, 67, booked the likes of Jay Leno, Bob Newhart and Johnny Mathis.
