About Town: Hollywood Welcomes 2011

After spending $3.9 billion to build the Las Vegas Strip’s newest hotel, the owners of the ultraluxe Cosmopolitan didn’t scrimp on rolling out the welcome mat for Hollywood. Mark Wahlberg explored the property with producing partner Steve Levinson, Kirsten Dunst tried her luck at the $25 blackjack tables, and Cameron Diaz and BF Alex Rodriguez took in a Dec. 30 performance by Florence + the Machine and sat for a private meal with chef Jose Andres, whose newest restaurant, Jaleo, is inside. Then everybody from WME’s Robert Newman to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews showed up for the main attraction: a black-tie New Year’s Eve gala concert by Coldplay and Jay-Z.
