'Transformers 3’s John Malkovich Joins Gabriele Salvatores' 'Siberian Education'

Malkovich will play the grandfather of a Siberian gangster family in the English-language feature.

COLOGNE, Germany - Two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich has signed on for a supporting role in Siberian Education, the English-language Russian gangster tale from Italian director Gabriele Salvatores.

Malkovich, currently on screen in Michael Bay's sci-fi blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon, will play Kuzja, a grandfather in a Siberian crime family who passes on lessons in the gangster life to his young grandson Kolyma, played by Lithuanian first timer Arnas Fedaravicius. The film in an adaptation of the best-selling crime memoir by Nicolai Lilin.

Salvatores plans to begin shooting this August in Lithuania. This will be Salvatores' first English-language feature. The director best known for his Oscar-winning World War II drama Mediterraneo (1991).
