Transgender Comedian Patti Harrison Discusses 'Tonight Show' Appearance, Trump's Transgender Military Ban

"I don't actually think you're stupid," Harrison said in a follow-up message to the president.

After President Donald Trump tweeted his decision to ban transgender people from serving in the U.S. military, many jumped in with criticism of the announcement. One of the voices that stood out the most was transgender comedian Patti Harrison, who was invited on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to share her thoughts.

"I'm not a huge fan of Donald Trump," Harrison tells The Hollywood Reporter following her appearance on the late-night program. "I don't agree with a lot of the things that he says, but I think we can all agree with the fact that he is the most physically attractive president that we’ve had."

Harrison goes on to explain why she felt compelled to voice her opinions and inevitably become an ambassador for the trans community. "A lot of the time, marginalized people aren't given as much time on a public platform in mainstream media," she says. "When one marginalized person is, I can only speak from my personal experience as a trans person because everyone's experience is different."

When asked what she would say to President Trump, the comedian joked about their experience sharing tapas and exclaimed, "I'm in love with Donald Trump!"
