Ludacris to Perform at Tribeca Film Festival's Opening Night

The actor-rapper will take the Beacon Theatre stage after the premiere of 'SNL' doc 'Live From New York!' on Wednesday night.

Ludacris is kicking off the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.

The fest has announced that the Furious 7 actor — who also just released his eighth studio album, Ludaversal — will perform at its opening night at the Beacon Theatre.

He will take the stage after the world premiere of the Saturday Night Live documentary Live From New York!, directed by Bao Nguyen. The doc explores the early years and evolution of Lorne Michaels' comedy institution, complete with archival footage and commentary from past and present castmembers, journalists, hosts and crewmembers, among others.

"This year’s Tribeca Film Festival is a true celebration of the convergence of music and film and Ludacris is an artist who embodies that cultural collaboration," said Paula Weinstein, exec vp, Tribeca Enterprises.

Ludacris added, "Appearing on Saturday Night Live — both as a host and a musical guest — were some of the most thrilling moments of my career. ... I’m excited to be a part of this premiere and the Tribeca Film Festival opening night. As a storyteller through music and acting, it is especially meaningful for me to participate in an event that is centered on spotlighting great stories."
