Tribeca launches youth film series

The Tribeca Film Institute is launching the free Tribeca Youth Screening Series for New York City public school students, matching topical films with in-class curricula and teacher training. Created in partnership with Arts Engine, the series will stage the first of nine screenings Sept. 27 with Andrew Walton’s American Indian docu “Arctic Son,” presented with student participation in the oral history project Storycorps. The series will feature 2007 Tribeca Film Festival entries, including as a pre-release showing of Sean Fine and Andrea Nix’s Uganda docu “War/Dance” from ThinkFilm, and Marcel Camus’ 1960 Brazillian feature “Black Orpheus.”
