Trina Turk Has a Brand New Bag
Giving us a sneak peek at her first-ever line of So Cal-inspired handbags, the designer spills on the everyday essentials she likes to carry in her new Manhattan woven tote design.
Since launching her eponymous line in 1995, print-lovers have gone bananas for Trina Turk's patterned pieces. Taking cues from her love of all things Southern California, including landscape, architecture and design, Turk has infused her designs with a love of color and whimsy. What started as women's clothing has grown into a line for men, as well as home furnishings, swimwear, jewelry and footwear.
Now, to complete the perfect Trina Turk ensemble, the designer debuts her first line of handbags and clutches inspired by a drive through Los Angeles, from Silver Lake, along Sunset Boulevard and down to the beach.
"We have a full assortment, ranging from totes, satchels and cross-body silhouettes to clutches and small leather goods. There's a style for any occasion — from modernist home tours to vintage shopping to my New York work trip later this month," says Turk, who named all the bags after her favorite cocktails. The collection is broken down into two: Essentials, the core of the collection, featuring totes, satchels and cross-bodies; and Luxe, which boasts both evening bags and clutches bedecked with custom hardware and linings.
Here, Turk gives us a peek at the contents in her Manhattan woven tote, which she has been carrying all summer — just one of the covetable styles set to land on shelves Wednesday at Trina Turk boutiques around the country. Cheers!
