TriStar Pictures has picked up an untitled female comedy spec script from rising writer Michelle Harper.

Tony Hernandez, John Hodges and Brooke Posch of Jax Media are producing the project, which was featured on the 2020 Black List, unveiled Monday, under its working title, Tin Roof Rusted.

The project is being described as a female-driven comedy in the vein of Bridesmaids, the breakout Paul Feig-directed movie that starred Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. In the Black List synopsis, the plot centers on two lifelong best friends who, after they discover that they’re both pregnant, “promise to embark on their journey together. But with the constant pressure of outsiders, the two struggle amid personal differences and must relearn that what connected them as children can still be their glue as adults.”

TriStar vp production Shary Shirazi and TriStar president Nicole Brown are overseeing the project for the studio.

Harper, who graduated in 2014 from New York University, worked as a script coordinator for Saturday Night Live and Late Night With Seth Meyers for the past five years. This is her first screenplay.

She is repped by UTA and Kaplan Perrone Entertainment.
