Tropfest sets kid filmmaker offshoot

SYDNEY -- Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network and Tropfest, Australia's largest short-film festival, on Wednesday unveiled a new offshoot festival aimed at filmmakers 15 years old and under that will launch in February.

Trop Jr. is a joint initiative of Cartoon Network, Tropfest and kids' TV production and distribution company the Australian Children's Television Foundation.

The finalist screenings and judging for the festival's inaugural outing is set to take place during the Sydney-based 2008 Tropfest short-film festival in February. Films submitted for competition can be live-action films, animation or documentaries. Kids can enter Trop Jr. individually or as a group.
