Skarsgard reprises his role as Eric Northman, the 1,000-year-old vampire, on the sixth season of the HBO series True Blood.

The Swedish actor makes a nod to last summer's season finale of the HBO vampire drama.

True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard is no stranger to nudity.

A new photo of the Swedish actor posted on Instagram features a naked Skarsgard, wearing nothing but a pair of sunglasses and snow boots, sitting on a toilet reading a book while in the middle of Antarctica. The image was posted by Inge Solheim, Skarsgard's teammate for the charity Walking With the Wounded's Virgin Money South Pole Allied Challenge.

If the image looks familiar to True Blood fans, it should. In last summer's season-six finale, "Radioactive," Skarsgard's character Eric Northman was last seen sunbathing naked while reading a book (the 1912 novel Den Allvarsamma Leken) in Sweden before bursting into flames.

Nudity is not a new thing for the actor. In an interview with Conan O'Brien last June, Skarsgard joked that it was a long time before he saw his actor father, Stellan, clothed. "I think I was 14 the first time I saw my dad wearing pants," Skarsgard said.

Skarsgard has been keeping busy. In October, a long-haired (and blond) Skarsgard starred in Cut Copy's music video for "Free Your Mind."

True Blood will return for its seventh and final season this summer.
