Trump Looking at Eclipse Without Glasses Becomes Instant Meme
"Scientists: Don't look straight at sun during eclipse. Trump: Hold my glasses."
Millions of Americans on Monday looked to the sky to see the solar eclipse, and President Donald Trump was among them — the only difference is he became an instant meme in doing so.
Trump looked upon the skyward spectacle with his wife and youngest son.
Enter the internet.
Photos of the president both with his glasses on and looking directly at the eclipse without the glasses — a move many cautioned was extremely harmful for the eyes and could even cause temporary blindness — led social media users to go to town with the moment.
The most popular appeared to be users saying Trump believed the eclipse hurting his eyes without protection was "fake news."
