"Also, I’d duct-tape eight or nine of the weaker students who had previously made it to my body as a shield before entering," James Gunn quipped.

President Donald Trump on Monday said that even if he didn't have a weapon, he would have run into Stoneman Douglas High School while a gunman was attacking in order to protect students. Celebrities and other social media users were quick to roast him for the remark.

The president made the comment to governors meeting at the White House to discuss school safety.

"I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon," Trump said, while criticizing local authorities for, in his opinion, not acting quickly enough.

Trump was referring to Feb. 14, when a gunman opened fire at the Florida high school, killing 17 people.

Trump, along with the NRA, has since floated the idea of arming teachers across the nation. There has been major pushback against the idea, led by students from Stoneman Douglas.

Celebrities, including Seth MacFarlane and James Gunn, mocked the remark with GIFs and sarcastic comments, some reminding Trump he avoided being drafted for the Vietnam War, citing bone spurs.
