Donald Trump amplified a supporter on Twitter who posted a picture of him with the caption "WINNING" and the logo of CNN on the sole of his shoe.
The supporter was tweeting in reply to Trump attacking the media with a claim Saturday that, "The Stock Market is setting record after record and unemployment is at a 17 year low. So many things accomplished by the Trump Administration, perhaps more than any other President in first year. Sadly, will never be reported correctly by the Fake News Media!"
While CNN's communications team hasn't replied on Twitter yet, State of the Union anchor Jake Tapper noticed the tweet and wrote: "CNN-labeled blood on the sole of his shoe. Retweeted by the President of the United States on Christmas Eve."
The president has relentlessly attacked the network throughout the campaign and during his time in office. In July, he retweeted a GIF of himself tackling and punching a CNN logo, a clip that used archival footage from a Wrestlemania event.
The cable news network has replied to the barrage of trolling with a new ad campaign launched in October titled "Facts First" that doesn't explicitly mention the president by name, but singles out Trump's "fake news" attack line.
The PR team has taken to replying directly to Trump when faced with outlandish criticism. In November, Trump tweeted that "CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly." The network replied: "It's not CNN's job to represent the U.S to the world. That's yours."
