TruTV locks up 'Southern Fried Stings'

Reality show centered on state trooper debuts in March

TruTV has greenlighted "Southern Fried Stings," a reality series from All3Media companies Zoo Prods. ("Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" and Studio Lambert ("Undercover Boss").

The show, slated to premiere in March, follows Jay Russell, a former state trooper who leads a team of highly trained investigators in serving up "Southern justice" -- they go after people engaged in illicit activities, from dealing drugs to fencing stolen goods.

"With its rapid-fire storytelling and a memorable cast of characters led by Jay Russell, 'Southern Fried Stings' is an ideal fit with truTV's lineup of originals that put viewers in the middle of the action," said truTV's exec vp and general manager Marc Juris.

The series is exec produced by Barry Poznick, John Stevens, Charles Steenveld, Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman. For truTV, Robyn Huttis the executive in charge of production, with Diane Best serving as executive producer.
