TSN alternate feed goes digital

24-hour digital channel begins soon

TORONTO -- Canadian cable channel the Sports Network is saying goodbye to its alternate feed.

Toronto-based TSN said Thursday that it will turn its second feed into a permanent, 24-hour digital channel tabbed "TSN2," beginning Aug. 29.

Since 2006, TSN used its second feed to air live sports events when it was occupied with previously scheduled programming at no extra cost to subscribers.

TSN2 will focus on live coverage of the National Hockey League, the NBA, NASCAR, the Canadian Football League and other major sporting events.
