Turrini joins Vivendi in development role

PARIS -- Gallic media giant Vivendi is starting off 2008 by welcoming senior executive vp for strategy and development Regis Turrini, the company announced Monday.

Turrini will take over the position from Robert de Metz, who is leaving Vivendi but will remain a director of the group's pay TV subsidiary Canal Plus France.

Turrini joined Vivendi in 2003 as executive vp mergers and acquisitions after beginning his career as a judge in the French administration courts, then working as a lawyer before joining investment bank Arjil & Associates and eventually being named partner.

"Robert de Metz has played a key role in the major transactions that have marked the turnaround and development of Vivendi over the past five years," Vivendi said in a statement.
