Lakers' loss ABC's gain

The Los Angeles Lakers might have blown a huge lead Thursday, but ABC's presentation of the NBA Finals showed no sign of surrendering its leg up on competitors. Game 4 (9.9 million viewers, 4.1 rating/12 share in adults 18-49 demo) between the Lakers and Boston Celtics gave ABC a win for night, up 21% from last year's deciding NBA Finals game. The victory gave ABC its eighth Thursday win in a row, the network's longest winning streak on that night in more than 16 years. Rival scripted summer series "Swingtown" on CBS and "Fear Itself" on NBC endured double-digit declines in their second weeks on the air.
