U.S. Open playoff way above par for NBC

The payoff for Monday's U.S. Open playoff was sweet for NBC Sports. The finale of the major golf championship, which pitted eventual winner Tiger Woods against Rocco Mediate, averaged a 7.6 overnight household rating/20 share from 2-4:45 p.m. EDT, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday. It was up 90% compared with 1991, the last time a U.S. Open went extra holes.

Sundance deal final

Rainbow Media Holdings has completed the acquisition of Sundance Channel from NBC Universal, Showtime Networks and entities controlled by Robert Redford. It follows an agreement reached May 6.
