'Pam' premiere draws 1.1 mil viewers for E!

"Pam: Girl on the Loose," Pamela Anderson's new reality show on E! Entertainment, got off to an OK start Sunday night. The series averaged 1.1 million total viewers at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research. "Sunset Tan," which had its Season 2 bow after "Pam" at 10:30 p.m., built on "Pam's" performance by 200,000 viewers with an average of 1.3 million. Meanwhile, the finale of "HGTV Design Star 3" at 9 p.m. Sunday averaged 3.3 million viewers, up slightly from the Season 2 closer.

Euros catching on

More than half of Western European households had digital television by the end of last year, according to new research from Informa Telecoms & Media, with 90% of the continent's 157 million homes expected to have it by 2013. Led by the U.K., France, Germany and Italy, Western Europe had 89 million digital homes by the end of 2007 and is expected to have 129 million by 2010.

Knight in 'Pursuit'

Christopher Knight, of "Brady Bunch" and, more recently, "Surreal Life" and "My Fair Brady" fame, has been tapped to host the upcoming syndicated game show "Trivial Pursuit: America Plays," which premieres Sept. 22. The show, based on Hasbro's board game and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, begins production this week, with Wheeler-Sussman producing.

'5th Grader' plans

Twentieth Television is expected to announce that it's moving forward with a syndicated version of Fox's primetime game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" — produced by Mark Burnett Prods. — for a fall 2009 launch. A rep for Twentieth declined comment, but the distributor was known to have been developing a syndicated version of the show for several months.

Sky One lineup set

"Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica," "Futurama" and Season 20 of "The Simpsons" are among the Sky One highlights scheduled for the fall, programming boss Richard Woolfe said. Sky also will feature a host of homegrown reality and factual shows.

Host duties for Ellis

Former "Survivor" contestant and Navy pilot Hunter Ellis has been tapped to host Craig Piligian's upcoming MRC reality series "In Harm's Way" on the CW. Each episode chronicles people who do critical yet life- threatening jobs.

Monday gains for NBC

Monday night's season finales of NBC's "American Gladiators" (5.3 million viewers, 2.0 rating/6 share in adults 18-49) and "Nashville Star" (6.3 million, 1.9/5) earned the highest ratings for the shows in nearly two months. Fox's "Teen Choice Awards" (1.5/5) was up 73% in the teen demo this year to mark the highest-rated outing for the event among teens since 2004.
