Michael Phelps' victory lap on NBC continues, with the swimmer booked to make his acting debut on the 34th-season premiere of "Saturday Night Live." Phelps will host the sketch comedy series when it debuts Sept. 13, along with musical guest Lil Wayne. Phelps also will be a guest on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Sept. 8.

More 'Talent' at NBC

NBC has renewed "America's Got Talent" for a fourth season. "Talent" is the most-watched show of the summer and ranks third among series in the adults 18-49 demographic. It took a break during NBC's presentation of the Olympics and resumed Tuesday at 8 p.m., when it easily led the night. "The production team has stepped up their game creatively as proven by the strong ratings," NBC president of alternative programming Craig Plestis said.

NBC has given a back-nine order to its series "Chuck" just more than a month before the show's second-season premiere. "Chuck," which returns at 8 p.m. Sept. 29, had a solid but abbreviated first season because of the WGA strike.
