'Gossip' keeps up pace in second episode

The CW's "Gossip Girl"(3.1 million viewers, 1.6 rating/ 4 share in adults 18-49) kept fighting in its second episode of the new season Monday, staying on pace with its premiere a week ago by falling one-tenth of a ratings point from its series high. Meanwhile, the Season 2 premiere of Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (6.3 million, 2.4/7) took first place in the demo at 8 p.m.

Fox moves 'Earth'

Starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, Fox is giving viewers an "exclusive first look at an extended scene" from the upcoming feature film "The Day the Earth Stood Still," followed by a preview of the two-hour Fox movie "24: Redemption." After the previews, the series premiere of "Fringe" will repeat, followed by a preview of the first four minutes of the show's second episode.

Phelps makes splash

Olympics phenom Michael Phelps' appearance Monday on NBC's "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" gave the late-night talker its best ratings since June 17. "Tonight" averaged a 4.1 household metered-market rating/ 10 share, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday.
