The New York Comedy Festival has added performances by "The View's" Sherri Shepherd, Susie Essman, John Pinette and Paul Mooney to its lineup. It also announced its second annual competition to find New York's Funniest Stand-Up, a sketch showcase and a "MySpace Secret Stand-Up Show" among other additions to the fest, set for Nov. 5-9.

Judge talks 'Tough'

A. Smith & Co. has inked a talent deal with New York-based Judge Marian Shelton to produce a court show targeted for syndication. "Tough Justice With Judge Marian Shelton," which is being pitched to syndicators, will focus on civil, family and relationship disputes. Shelton was appointed to family court by former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in 1998 and has handled more than 40,000 cases with only a handful of appellate reversals. A. Smith said her outspokenness led to a two-year dispute with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

Yankees staying put

WWOR-TV New York and the YES Network have signed a three-year extension that will keep the station as the exclusive broadcast home of the New York Yankees through the end of the 2011 baseball season. As part of the deal, WWOR will present 21 games a year in HD.
