With a 5.7 overnight rating among households, the Astros' victory will likely emerge as ESPN's most watched wild card game ever and the highest-rated since 2003.
Houston brought in the highest rating, a 14.8, while New York trailed with a 12.0.
The game was also a coup for the WatchESPN app. 445,000 unique viewers tuned in to stream the game over the course of the night — with an average of 127,000 at any given minute.
