TVE subtracting, adding on digital front

Pubcaster will have new high-def, cultural channels

MADRID -- Spanish pubcaster TVE said Tuesday that it will still have eight channels when the country switches to digital terrestrial television but that two of its older offerings will be replaced by a high-definition channel and a theme channel specializing in cultural programming.

Current channels TV1, TV2, Canal 24 Horas, Clan TV, Teledeporte and TVE Internacional will remain, while Docu TV and Canal Clasico will be eliminated.

A pair of new channels, TVE HD and Canal Cultural, will be added and absorb programming from the two that are being terminated.
