TV's Exodus from L.A.
Nearly half of this year's pilots were shot elsewhere
At first glance, it was a promising year for Los Angeles TV production, with the region hosting the second-largest annual haul on record, according to FilmL.A. But a closer look reveals that more pilots were produced outside of L.A. than ever before. The region can lay claim to 52 percent of this year's pilots, down from 82 percent in 2005. Says FilmL.A. president Paul Audley, "To be passed over for new drama pilot and series production is troubling."
