TVs on the rise for music playback

One-third of music fans surveyed listen via TV

DENVER -- The hot new music device these days seems to be the TV. According to a recent survey by Parks Associates, music fans listen to their tunes through their TV set as much as they do via MP3 players -- a full third of respondents each.

The analyst group points to new home networking networks and placeshifting services for the TV's rise in popularity.

The home computer remained the dominate device for listening to music in the home, with two-thirds of respondents selecting that device.

However, traditional music appliances like CD players or radios were not on the list of options, as the report was specific to digital media.
