During this week's podcast, hosts Daniel Fienberg and Lesley Goldberg also discuss Netflix's talk show woes and the shake-up at 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.'

Welcome to another episode of TV's Top 5, The Hollywood Reporter's TV podcast.Every week, hosts Lesley Goldberg (West Coast TV editor) and Daniel Fienberg (chief TV critic) break down the latest TV news with context from the business and critical sides, welcome showrunners, executive and other guests and provide a critical guide of what to watch (or skip, as the case may be). This week's five topics are:

1. The DNC goes virtual.
Dan has watched every second of the Democratic National Convention and, in this segment, explores how the virtual event created some impactful moments where you wouldn't expect.

2. The Ellen DeGeneres Show shake-up.
This week, three senior-level staffers were dismissed from the host's popular syndicated daytime talk show. This segment explores if the allegations that she knowingly oversaw a toxic work culture will affect her brand.

3. Netflix's talk show woes.
The streamer has tried, and tried, and tried and, well, you get the point, when it comes to developing a successful talk show and another one bit the dust this week when the media giant canceled Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj. This segment explores the reasons that may have led to the show's cancellation and looks at Netflix's track record in the genre.

4. Comedy Central's purge.
The ViacomCBS-owned cable network this week canceled Drunk History and Tosh.0, in both cases reversing course on previously announced renewals. The latter scored a four-season renewal back in January, illustrating how much Comedy Central's direction has changed in such a short period. This segment explores why neither show — both of them staples of Comedy Central — will wind up on CBS All Access as the larger company looks to incorporate key properties from across its ecosystem on the streamer. Sound confusing? Don't worry, we'll break it down.

5. Critic's Corner.
As usual, every episode ends with Dan's look at what to watch (or skip). This week, he weighs in on Netflix's Hoops, Freeform's Love in the Time of Corona and HBO's The Vow. Hear it all now on TV's Top 5. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast to never miss an episode. (Reviews welcome!)
