TVT lands German b'cast license
EmptyCOLOGNE, Germany -- Turkish music channel TVT has received a license to broadcast nationwide in Germany, bringing Turkish pop stars and music videos to Germany's large ethnic Turkish community.
The new Germany-based channel is set to launch this spring and will target the nation's estimated 2 million ethnic Turks.
German media authorities this week also granted a broadcasting license to Turkish-language entertainment channel Kanal 7 INT.
The licenses for the channels, which will be carried on digital satellite service Turksat, are good for four years.
Germany already has three locally based Turkish-language channels and many popular Turkish networks, including pubcaster TRT, are available on cable or satellite.
