TW hiring former Murdoch confidant

Gary Ginsberg to be named senior adviser to Jeffrey Bewkes

NEW YORK -- Time Warner plans to name former News Corp. communications guru and Rupert Murdoch confidant Gary Ginsberg as a senior adviser to chairman and CEO Jeffrey Bewkes on a broad range of issues.

His role is expected to be similar to the one he held at News Corp.

The hire follows last week's resignation of TW communications veteran Edward Adler, who said he is leaving to pursue new challenges after spending his entire career at the conglomerate. Adler is understood to have mentioned his plans to depart before TW started its talks with Ginsberg.

The New York Post, owned by News Corp., first reported the expected hire of Ginsberg, likely to be announced in the coming days, on its Web site late Thursday.

The industry veteran, who left News Corp. at the end of last year, is expected to have oversight over marketing and corporate issues, according to the Post.

A TW spokesman declined comment.
