'Twilight' Author Stephenie Meyer to Produce YA Film Adaptation 'Anna Dressed in Blood'
Maddie Hasson and Cameron Monaghan will star in the film, to be directed by Trish Sie.
Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is producing the YA film adaptation of Anna Dressed in Blood, with Maddie Hasson (Twisted) and Cameron Monaghan (Gotham) set to star.
Trish Sie, an award-winning music video director who also helmed Step Up: All In, will direct. Principal photography is set to begin in November. Meyer is making Anna via her Fickle Fish Films, the production company she runs with Meghan Hibbett.
The Solution Entertainment Group has come aboard to produce and finance the pic and will shop it to foreign buyers at the upcoming Cannes film market. UTA Independent Film Group packaged the project and is representing U.S. rights.
Meyer optioned film rights to the novel, the first in a two-book series by Kendare Blake. The story revolves around a young ghost hunter who encounters a ghostly girl entangled in curses and rage and who is more powerful than any spirit he has met before.
“We literally searched the world for over a year to find the perfect actors to bring this genre-spanning story to life. Cameron and Maddie, both so talented individually, together have that rare and extraordinary chemistry that lights up the screen,” Meyer said Tuesday in a statement. “Trish Sie has the perfect background to visually translate Kendare Blake’s compelling story in a way that speaks to the modern viewer.”
Hasson's credits also include the indie film I Saw the Light, which currently is in theaters. In addition to Shameless, Monaghan also plays a recurring role on Gotham, and will appear in the upcoming film Amityville: The Awakening.
Fickle Fish Films' previous productions include The Host, based on Meyer's book, and Austenland.
