Two Discovery development heads exiting

Discovery's two West Coast development heads are leaving the company, but the network has expansion plans for the office.

Elli Hakami, vp of series development and Wayne Sampson, director of series development are departing the organization to pursue other opportunities.

Discovery emphasizes the Los Angeles office remains open for business and the vacant slots will be filled shortly.

"L.A. is very important to us and more important as we go forward and ramp up development," said Discovery president and general manager Clark Bunting. "There won't be any gap in development and we're going to continue business as usual."

The network intends to make announcements in the coming weeks on new personnel for the office, as well as approve some new projects that were developed in L.A.

Discovery is in the process of expanding its development team, with Dolores Gavin joining the network from History channel last month to act as senior director of development and production; Amy Savitsky also recently joined as a director and Stephen Reverand, head of Specials development and production, started this week.

All three will be assisting the West Coast office as it goes through the current transition.
