Two former execs sell projects

Teri Weinberg has drama at NBC; Julia Franz in biz with ABC

Former NBC executive vp programming Teri Weinberg has sold her first project as a producer, drama "Welcome to Hitchcock," to NBC.

Meanwhile, Julia Franz, formerly exec vp at ABC Studios, has set up the comedic drama "Go Girls" at ABC.

"Hitchcock," from writers Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle ("Tin Man"), centers on a skilled but restless police detective who, in search of his missing brother, relocates to the city of Hitchcock, Calif., where he soon discovers a world of half-truths, peculiar characters and unanswered questions lying beneath the town's sparkling, friendly, blue-sky veneer of tradition and family values.

Mitchell, Van Sickle and Weinberg are exec producing the project, which falls under the first-look deal Weinberg's Yellow Brick Road production banner inked with NBC in February. Universal Media Studios is producing.

"Go Girls," produced by ABC Studios, is based on the New Zealand series that premiered this year. The original series, produced by South Pacific Pictures, revolves around three 25-year-old women and their male childhood friend who, dissatisfied with their lives, make challenging promises to one another that they set out to fulfill.

Liz Tuccillo ("Sex and the City") is writing the adaptation, which she is executive producing with Franz and John Barnett.
