Two join Josh Hutcherson-Dane Cook film

Shanley Caswell, Spencer Locke cast in 'Detention'

Shanley Caswell and Spencer Locke have been cast in the horror comedy "Detention" opposite Josh Hutcherson and Dane Cook.

Directed by music video helmer Joseph Kahn ("Torque"), the indie film revolves around teenagers who have more on their minds than finals during their senior year of high school: A serial killer seems to be on the loose. Caswell will play a cute but awkward girl trying to connect with her school crush (Hutcherson), and Locke will play her nemesis, the head cheerleader.

Kahn wrote the script with Mark Palermo. Shooting on the $10 million pic begins this month in Los Angeles.

Richard Weager, Maryann Tanedo, David Kang and Kahn are producing. Hutcherson and Bob Abramoff are executive producing.

Repped by APA and Semler Entertainment, Caswell has appeared on Fox's "Bones."

Locke, repped by APA and Lane Management Group, is a recurring on ABC's "Cougar Town" and has appeared on the CW's "The Vampire Diaries."
