Two new Showtime series expand casts

Showtime is adding two veteran British thespians to two new series.

On its Renaissance-era crime drama "The Borgias," Derek Jacobi has been cast as Cardinal Orsini for the first few episodes. He'll play a nemesis to Pope Alexander (Jeremy Irons).

Jacobi has appeared in the features "Gladiator," "Gosford Park" and "Underworld: Evolution."

On the comedy "Episodes," Showtime has tapped Richard Griffiths to play a version of himself: a brilliant British actor deemed "too sophisticated" by an American TV network to star in a fictional comedy pilot who instead is replaced by Matt LeBlanc.

Griffiths plays Uncle Vernon Dursley in the "Harry Potter" films.

Both shows are in production; no premiere dates have been set.
