Where U been gone? Clarkson back on top
EmptyThe original American Idol is back where she started. Kelly Clarkson has her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since her 2003 debut as "All I Ever Wanted" arrives with 255,000 units sold, led by the chart- topping single "My Life Would Suck Without You."
The disc is her follow-up to 2007's "My December," which was a disappointment after the sextuple-platinum success of 2004's "Breakaway." "December" opened well but spent only 18 weeks on the chart and has moved 788,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Is it a coincidence that Clarkson's latest record arrived the day the latest season of Fox's venerable "American Idol" began its finals?
The-Dream, who co-wrote Rihanna's 2007 megahit "Umbrella," also bows big this week. His second solo album, "Love vs. Money," outsold the sophomore frame of U2's "No Line on the Horizon" by 19,000 units.
R&B singer J. Holiday also makes a splash with his sophomore set, aptly titled "Round 2," and former Soundgarden and Audioslave belter Chris Cornell rounds out the top tier with "Scream," which bows with 26,000 units scanned.
