The executive producer of the ABC telenovela returns to TV with a two-year overall deal.
The Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta has signed a two-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
The pact marks a return to television for Horta, who took time off after Betty concluded its run in 2010.
The ABC telenovela, adapted from Columbia's Yo Soy Betty La Fea, was a break-out success in its early years, earning star America Ferrera an Emmy for her work as fish-out-of-water character Betty Suarez. It was co-produced by Reveille, with Ben Silverman serving as chief executive when the show began.
Horta already has a dramedy project about a Cuban-American family living in Miami in development.
The producer, whose other credits include UPN's Jake 2.0 and Syfy's The Chronicle, had a previous deal at ABC Studios. He is repped by WME.
