'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

The blockbuster wrested the crown from the James Bond film after just three weeks in release.

James Bond has been usurped.

On Thursday, Star Wars: The Force Awakens knocked Skyfall  from its spot as the biggest film of all time. In the U.K., Force Awakens has taken in £104 million ($152 million), while Skyfall grossed £103 million following its release in 2012.

The historic milestone was reached in just 22 days of release in the U.K., where Force Awakens broke several records in its opening week.

Also Thursday, the Star Wars movie nabbed four BAFTA nominations in technical categories.

Globally, Force Awakens has earned $1.59 billion to date for Disney and Lucasfilm, making it the No. 3 film of all time, not accounting for inflation. And it's already the top-grossing movie of all time in North America.
