U.K. Regulator Details Key Issues for Review of Fox's Sky Bid
Among the topics in focus will be "whether and how the ability of the Murdoch Family Trust to influence the political agenda will change."
U.K. culture secretary Karen Bradley recently made it official, confirming that she has referred 21st Century Fox's proposed deal to take full control of pay TV giant Sky for an in-depth review by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The CMA, which has 24 weeks to investigate the deal and provide Bradley with advice, has said it would focus on the deal's effects on media plurality and the company's commitment to U.K. broadcasting standards.
Bradley must then "come to a final decision on whether or not the merger can proceed, including any conditions that will apply in order to do so," she has said.
