UKFC boosts 18 films with $1.5 mil
'In the Loop' among recipients of P&A Fund cashLONDON -- The U.K. Film Council said Thursday that it has dished out just shy of £1 million ($1.5 million) across 18 movie titles to boost distribution prospects.
U.K. indie Optimum Releasing secured $313,000 and $272,000, respectively, for the releases of "In the Loop" and "Is Anybody There?" from the Council's Prints and Advertising Fund.
Metrodome Distribution, listed here on the stock exchange, got the single biggest payout in this round of funding, with £250,471 ($374,000) for the rollout of "Fifty Dead Men Walking." The indie also grabbed $233,000 for its title "Shifty."
The P&A Fund dishes out cash to smaller films in an effort to heighten their exposure and can be employed for publicity or to make more prints available to bolster release.
