Ukraine simplifies cable licenses

No detailed breakdown of channels required

MOSCOW -- Ukraine's National Council for Broadcasting Issues announced plans to simplify the existing licensing procedure for cable operators at its session Wednesday.

In accordance with the new procedure, cable operators won't have to list all channels they plan to broadcast in license applications, instead indicating only a total number.

The country's cable providers, who had called for simplifying the procedure, had pledged not to broadcast any channels not certified by the council.
