U.K.'s Channel 4 picks up CBS series
Inks deals for 'The Good Wife,' 'Accidentally on Purpose'LONDON -- Channel 4 has picked up CBS-distributed shows "The Good Wife" starring Julianna Marguiles and Chris Noth, which will air on its digital web More4, and "Accidentally on Purpose" starring Jenna Elfman and Ashley Jensen, which will air on youth-oriented digiweb E4.
"Wife," which stars Marguiles as a defense attorney whose husband has been jailed on corruption charges, counts Ridley and Tony Scott among its exec producers, and it was created by Charles McDougall, drawing 13.7 million on its CBS debut last month.
"Accidentally," based on the memoir by Mary Pols, was exec produced by BermanBraun.
The deals were brokered by C4 head of acquisitions Gill Hay and CBS Studios International's senior European vp Stephen Tague. Separately, CBS Studios International said hit debut series "NCIS: Los Angeles" had been picked up by BSkyB's Sky One. The spinoff, which premiered with more than 18 million viewers in the U.S., will air in the U.K. from Oct. 21 under a deal giving the British satcaster rights to air the show on Sky1, Sky1 HD, Sky2 and Sky3.
