'The Hollywood Reporter' is sponsoring the best British film category at the annual London shindig.

The British public has spoken, putting Mad Max: Fury Road in pole position for the upcoming Empire Awards.

George Miller's explosive reboot of his action franchise emerged with 10 nominations on Thursday, closely followed by Star Wars: The Force Awakens with nine and the The Martian with six.

The lively annual and whiskey-fueled event (it's sponsored by Jameson) is set to take place on March 20, and this year includes new categories, such as TV and video games. The Hollywood Reporter is again sponsoring the best British film award, which sees Spectre go up against Legend, 45 Years, Macbeth and Suffragette.

There are also several nominations for some of those overlooked elsewhere, with Creed's Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan up for best director and best actor, respectively. Fifteen-year-old Beasts of No Nation star Abraham Attah is nominated in the best male newcomer category, alongside Room's Jacob Tremblay.
