UKTV sets Watch for October

Channel's launch slater; two others rebranded

LONDON -- UKTV, the Virgin Media/BBC joint family of channels, will launch a new channel, Watch, in October and rebrand a pair of existing channels, chief executive David Abraham said Thursday at a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch.

The moves will see U.K. Drama become Alibi, while comedy net U.K. Gold will be known simply as Gold.

UKTV, which launched the highly successful comedy and quiz show channel "Dave" last year, has long-term program supply deals with the BBC, airing its programs six months after they are broadcast on terrestrial nets BBC1 and BBC2.
