Uni names CNBC's Shibata CFO

Christy Rupert Shibata has been named executive vp and CFO, Universal Studios. She replaces Patti Hutton-Glassford, who has accepted a position as CFO at GE Industrial.

She was vp and CFO at CNBC and CNBC International.

In her new position, Shibata will oversee the financial and operational performance of Universal's global film and theme park operations, reporting to Universal Studios president and COO Ron Meyer. She also will report functionally to Lynn Calpeter, executive vp and CFO at NBC Universal.

"Christy's expertise and passion for the entertainment industry make her an ideal choice for this position," Meyer said. "Her global experience will prove invaluable to our organization."

Shibata has been in various positions within the GE family, serving as CFO of CNBC and CNBC International since October 2005. Before that, she worked for GE Healthcare in Tokyo and GE's Industrial and Financial Services.
