Unique items on block for DIFF event

An image of Marilyn Monroe created using more than 18,500 Swarovski crystals and a 1982 portrait of Brooke Shields are among the items to be auctioned off at the the Cinema Against AIDS Dubai Gala on Thursday.

The third annual event, which raised funds for the Foundation for AIDS Research, also includes the auctioning of a one-of-a-kind Chanel bag created by Karl Lagerfeld exclusively for the event.

Confirmed attendees for the event planned at the Dubai International Financial Center include Queen Noor of Jordan, Matt Dillon, Christina Ricci, Mandy Moore and Ranbir Kapoor.

"Apart from the exclusivity of the objects that will go under hammer and the presence of celebrities from around the world, the event underscores the commitment of Dubai to partner in causes of global significance," said DIFF Managing Director Shivani Pandya.

A limited number of seats for the event are available at the event's Web site.
