United Russia forms media group

Major political party also creates TV channel

MOSCOW -- United Russia, the country's main political party, is creating its own media group and TV channel, the ITAR-TASS wire service reported Wednesday.

According to the report, Andrei Vorobyov, head of the party's central executive committee, said the group will be created "to consolidate opportunities for the developing of the party's media resources and promotion of its image."

No further details about the group have been made available, except that the TV channel will initially employ 27 people.
