Universal Channel U.K. Gets Revamp
The British TV premiere of "Bates Motel" in September will be a key focus for the network, which is debuting a new logo and tagline next week.
LONDON _ The revamped pay-TV Universal Channel -- complete with an updated logo, on-air look and tagline -- will debut in the U.K. and Republic of Ireland on Aug. 5.
The tagline, "100 percent characters," aims to reflect the channel's character-driven entertainment with the U.K. premiere of TV show Bates Motel, a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, taking center stage on the new-look Universal Channel's lineup this September.
Starring Vera Farmiga as Norman’s mother, Norma, and Freddie Highmore as Norman, Bates Motel launched on A&E Network earlier this year in the U.S.
Other U.K. premieres include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Major Crimes, Royal Pains and Rookie Blue.
Universal Channel is billed as the flagship brand of the channel’s division of NBCUniversal International Television.
