The directorial debut of 'Pitch Perfect' scribe Kay Cannon will hit theaters in April 2018.

Universal Pictures has signed on for comedy The Pact, starring Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz and John Cena.

The film is the directorial debut of Kay Cannon, who penned the Pitch Perfect series that has become a hit franchise for Universal. The studio has set The Pact for a April 20, 2018, release.

The story centers on three parents who discover their daughters’ pact to lose their virginity at prom and launch a covert one-night operation to stop the teens from sealing the deal. 

The comedy will be produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, under their Point Grey Pictures banner, alongside Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg and DMG Entertainment’s Chris Fenton. Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce with Chris Cowles (Collide) of DMG. The Pact is written by brothers Brian and Jim Kehoe, Hurwitz and Schlossberg and Eben Russell.

Josh Fagen will oversee production for Point Grey and Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin will oversee on behalf of Universal.
